MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The city of Menasha could experience localized flooding in the next day or two, officials warned in a Facebook post Tuesday.
According to Menasha Public Works, “Water levels to the north are currently receding; however, that water is moving downstream into Little Lake Butte des Morts, the Fox River and Lake Winnebago. As a result, water levels in our area are expected to rise, potentially leading to localized flooding.”
The city is working with Winnebago County Emergency Management to secure pallets of pre-filled sandbags. These will be placed in three locations on Fox Street starting mid-to-late Wednesday. Residents who believe their property may be at risk of flooding are encouraged to use these sandbags.
Residents who do experience any flood damage should report it by calling 211 or doing so online. This helps ensure appropriate resources and assistance can be coordinated.
Winnebago County Emergency Management said as of Tuesday evening, the Wolf River height has been steady and is predicted to be at its crest. There is no evacuation order in place. Residents are encouraged to continue with their flood safety operations.
Neenah and Winneconne are also sandbagging in an attempt to mitigate further flood damage.
