(GREEN BAY ROCKERS) – Despite what seemed like a rally in the 9th inning, the Rockers couldn’t string together enough hits, and lost 4-2 Saturday night vs. Wisconsin Rapids.
Both starting pitchers were the highlights of tonight. For the Rafters, Sam Neal dished out five innings of one-run baseball, allowing just four hits and striking out six. For the Rockers, it was JT Guerrero III, who went six innings while giving up two runs of his own, both in the first inning. After that, he went five innings scoreless with a total of seven strikeouts.
The Rafters jumped on the Rockers first in the game, with Colin Spear driving in a run followed by a Jax LeGrand sacrifice fly. The scoring would then halt until the top half of the fourth inning.
In the fourth, Max Humphrey got on base via a single and stole second base. David Ballenilla got Green Bay on the board with an RBI single to center, his fourth RBI of the season.
Wisconsin Rapids all but sealed their win with a pair of homers in the 7th and the 8th, first by Mikey Boyd and then by Colin Spear. With Gage Honeyager going for the three-inning save, the Rockers added one more when Aidan Kuni scored on a wild pitch, but out of the Rafter pen came Colton LeFave to finish the job. The Rockers are now 14-10, with the Rafter improving to 7-16.
