MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A judge will issue a ruling next month on if certain evidence will be admitted in the case against Ryan Schroeder, a former Mishicot teacher accused of having sex more than 50 times with a student.
Schroeder, 38, faces 19 charges, including ten counts of possession of child pornography, repeated sexual assault of the same child, second-degree sexual assault, and sexual assault of a student by school staff member.
The defense asked for certain evidence to be suppressed – not allowed to be used at trial by prosecutors. A decision was expected Thursday. But after receiving more material this week, Judge Mark Rohrer told the parties Thursday he needs more time to finish his decision. It will be released at a May 14 hearing.
If the evidence will be allowed, details of a plea deal have already been reached, and Schroeder could be convicted that day, the attorneys said.
Court records show a tentative sentencing date of June 9 has already been scheduled.
According to the criminal complaint, the encounters started about Aug. 1, 2023, and continued into this year. The girl was 14 when the assaults began.
Schroeder admitted he was having sexual intercourse with VICTIM 1 since 2023, continuously through 2025, and most recently at the end of March 2025. Schroeder admitted having sexual intercourse with VICTIM 1 over 50 separate times with VICTIM 1 from 2023-2025. Schroeder admitted to having sexual intercourse with VICTIM 1 inside of Mishicot High School over 10 times from 2023-2025,” the complaint states.
Some of the videos show the two engaged in sexual activities. There are also “selfie” photos, showing the girl in states of undress.
Separately, Schroeder was convicted in federal court of production of child pornography for recording an encounter with the girl. He will be sentenced June 16 on that count.
