GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Green Bay Packers are kicking off a milestone year for the team’s fight against cancer.
With UW Health, the green and gold announced the 10th year of Packers vs. Cancer campaign at Lambeau Field Tuesday.
Packers center Sean Rhyan helped launch this year’s campaign, which annually raises awareness and funds for all cancers.
During the announcement, he shared the story of his family’s experience with cancer and urged fans to get involved.
To help support the cause, fans can purchase a special-edition Packers vs. Cancer winter hat available from the Packers Pro Shop, starting Tuesday. For every sale, $5 of it will go to UW Health | Carbone Cancer Center.
Hats will be available while supplies last.
Shoppers at the Packers Pro Shop can also add a $1 or more donation to any purchase, now through the month of October.
Fans can also make monetary donations online to the cause.
The campaign will be recognized during the game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Oct. 18. The game will be presented by UW Health | Carbone Cancer Center and attending fans will receive a Packers vs. Cancer Roll-a-Banner. The game will also incorporate several game entertainment elements that will honor cancer survivors and their loved ones.
Several Packers players will also bring the Packers Vs. Cancer initiative to the high school level by visiting Bay Port High School as the Pirates host the West De Pere Phantoms on Friday, Oct. 2. The Packers will present a donation to both schools’ STING Cancer programs.
