HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital breaks ground on new six-story patient tower in Green Bay

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A major expansion is underway at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay, where leaders marked the start of construction on a new patient tower.

The six-story building will allow the hospital to serve an additional 100 patients. The project is expected to expand access to specialized care, quadruple the hospital’s intensive care unit and create new operating rooms.

“So it is so important that we are here to serve the community,” said Chief Administrative Officer Leah Bergstrom. “We’ve been here 125 years and we want our legacy to continue for another 125 and beyond.”

The project is expected to be complete in 2028. The groundbreaking is the latest milestone in HSHS’ $270 million investment to revitalize its Green Bay hospitals.
