GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — It’s official: the Wisconsin Badgers hockey teams will be playing games at Lambeau Field in a few months.
The Frozen Tundra Faceoff will be Feb. 20, featuring the Badgers’ men’s hockey team taking on Michigan and the women’s team taking on Ohio State.
It is the first time a hockey game will be played on Lambeau Field since the Wisconsin Badgers men’s team defeated Ohio State 4-2 on a temporary ice rink in front of 40,890 fans on February 11, 2006.
“This is an incredible opportunity for our student-athletes and the Wisconsin hockey programs,” said Director of Athletics Shawn Eichorst. “The chance to showcase our brand of hockey at one of the most revered venues in sports, Lambeau Field, is a unique privilege and it will create an unforgettable experience for the University, alumni and all Badger fans.”
Tickets will be made available starting with a presale on Wednesday September 9 at 10 am. People can register to gain presale access. General ticket sales begin September 11.

The Badgers women’s hockey team has faced Ohio State in the National Championship the past four years, winning three of those matchups. The two storied teams have combined to win the past seven national championships.
“This is a major moment for our Badgers, for Titletown, and for the state of Wisconsin, and we are thrilled that our administration could help champion the historic return of hockey to Lambeau once again for a matchup the likes of which hasn’t been seen in a generation,” said Governor Tony Evers. “Much like our UW Badgers have seen back-to-back championship wins, we’ve seen back-to-back-to-back-to-back record-breaking years for Wisconsin tourism, and big events like this help ensure that success continues. This historic faceoff will help bring in big bucks for the local businesses and economies by bringing together Badger fans, hockey fans, and sports fans from across the Midwest right here in Green Bay.”
