Mitchell Hirt (Brown Co. Jail)
GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Mitchell Hirt was sentenced to two years in prison for peeping into the windows of Suamico homes and recording videos of underage girls dressing.
Hirt, 26, previously pleaded no contest to four counts of stalking, one count of invasion of privacy and one count of capturing an intimate representation.
Hirt was also put on extended supervision for three years and placed on probation for three years by Judge John Zakowski at Tuesday’s hearing. Hirt must also perform 100 hours of community service, and register as a sex offender for 15 years, the judge said.
One parent addressed the court, described the “incredibly intrusive” acts which “violated our privacy and shook our sense of safety in our own home.” The family is still living with the impact of what happened, the parent said.
Hirt’s father said there was no excuse for what his son did, but those actions are not wholly representative of who he is.
Hirt apologized for his actions. He noted he has been working, going to church, and going to therapy – all of which he wants to continue doing.
“It was never my intention to cause harm or trauma towards anyone. It is my hope that the victims and their family are able to recover from any trauma that I have caused,” Hirt said.
Hirt originally faced eight counts, but after he admitted his activity spanned several months, more charges were filed.
“Hirt admitted to videotaping several people without their knowledge but could not tell me how many people he videotaped. He stated that he started videotaping people in early November 2024. He stated that he stopped for about one month but then started up again,” the first complaint states. “In Hirt’s phone there are several videos where he is looking through someone’s window.”
The revised complaint includes counts of invasion of privacy, stalking and capturing an intimate representation without consent. The incidents occurred in October, November and December. The targets of the videos were mostly teenage girls, including several at a Halloween party.
The videos include some glimpses of nudity, as well as victims in their underwear and swimming suits. Several of the victims described to police being “emotionally distressed” by the videos and not feeling safe in their own homes, according to the complaint.
Hirt told police he did not know the people he was recording.
“Hirt admitted that he has a pornography addiction. He stated that he watches porn where people video tape other people without their knowledge through their windows. He admitted that he got sexual gratification from watching that kind of pornography. Hirt stated that he started looking into windows and videotaping people because he wanted to see if he could get the same sexual gratification from doing that as he did when he watched the pornographic videos,” the first complaint states.
