(LEARFIELD) – A walk-off home run by pinch hitter William Contreras gave the Brewers a 3-1 win and a sweep of the weekend series against the Marlins.
Until that long ball, four Miami pitchers had held Milwaukee scoreless on two hits.
Contreras came with 1 out in the ninth inning off Miami pitcher Pete Fairbanks.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that you’ve got to give credit to the guys who were in position to win the game.
Murphy said that there were a lot of contributors.
Grant Anderson got the win in relief.
Robert Gasser started for Milwaukee and allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 5 innings.
Gasser said that his cutter was working great.
He said that he executed his pitches better.
Chad Patrick pitched the next 2 innings followed by Aaron Ashby
Miami pitcher Eury Perez held the Brewers to 1 hit and 3 walks over 6 innings. He struck out 9.
Murphy said that Perez was good.
The Brewers welcome the New York Mets to American Family Field tonight.
Jacob Misiorowski (10-4, 1.62) is scheduled to start against former teammate Freddy Peralta (5-8, 4.66 ERA)
The Brewers are now 62-37 and lead the second-place Chicago Cubs by 6 in the National League Central Division.
The New York Mets are 42-58 and in last place in the National League East.
The Mets are 5-5 in their last 10 games while the Brewers are 6-4.
