GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Wednesday night’s heavy rains came faster than some people expected.
At the Farmers’ Market on Broadway in Green Bay, more than one vendor got caught in the storm.
One business owner showed says she’s in the market for a new tarp.
“We no longer have a tent anymore,” said Jennifer Bukouricz, who owns Monzù Bakery.
A mangled mess of aluminum and cloth was all that was left of the Monzù Bakery tarp. It was a victim of Wednesday night’s weather at the farmers’ market.
The whole area was flooded by Wednesday night’s storms. Everything was underwater, from Atkinson Park to streets to the parking lot at the bakery. And then, the hail started.
“It was like, pop, pop, pop,” Bukouricz said.
She had a hail bank in the back of her building that was created from the snow pellets coming off of the roof.
Nearby neighborhoods had the same banks of hailstones piled up on their lawns. In her five years of being in the building, Bukouricz has never seen anything like it.
Other vendors at the farmers market were in the same position. Some posted on social media about their damage, thankful it wasn’t worse.
Bukouricz feels the same.
“What are you going to do? The weather came so fast, you couldn’t keep up,” she said.
On Broadway, which organizes the market, released this statement:
