KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Kaukauna Area School District Board of Education has called a special board meeting Thursday in the wake of one of its teachers being put on leave.
Earlier this week, high school social studies teacher Patrick Meyer was put on administrative leave due to a social media post he made in response to the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner over the weekend.
The now-deleted X post read, “I am not impressed with recent presidential assassins. It’s [expletive] embarrassing! Booth, Guiteau, Czolgosz, Oswald must all be spinning in their graves! MAGAA (make Americans great assassins again)! Sad!”
On Monday, the Kaukauna Area School District said it is taking additional action to review the matter in accordance with its policies and procedures.
The agenda for Thursday’s special meeting is empty so it is not known if board members will take up this matter or not. The agenda also does not list a public comment period.
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the Kaukauna Area School District Board Meeting Room.
