(UW ATHLETICS) – The No. 34 Wisconsin men’s tennis team landed a spot in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, its first appearance since 2017. The Badgers will begin tournament play with a match against the Samford Bulldogs. The tournament appearance caps an impressive regular season that saw the Badgers post a 17-6 (.739), good for the second-best winning percentage in program history.
Wisconsin and Samford will go head to head in Starkville, Mississippi, with the match taking place on Friday, May 1. The winner of Friday’s match will take on the winner of Mississippi State and Tennessee Tech.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS: Samford enters the tournament with a 17-6 overall record, ending its regular season ranked at No. 73 in the final ITA rankings of the season. The Bulldogs concluded conference play with a 6-1 record, en route to earn its second consecutive SoCon tournament title after defeating ETSU, 4-2. Head coach Oliver Reynolds is in his third season leading the Bulldogs, posting a 44-25 record in his tenure.
UP NEXT: If the Badgers defeat the Bulldogs, they will play the winner of the Mississippi State and Tennessee Tech matchup. Mississippi State is seeded fifth overall in the tournament, playing host to the opening two rounds.
