(UW ATHLETICS) MADISON – The Wisconsin women’s hockey team garnered an 8-0 win over St. Thomas returns to home ice this Thursday, boosting its record to 13-1-1.
Seven Badgers scored to keep Wisconsin’s early season prowess going, with Lacey Eden (two goals, two assists) and Caroline Harvey (one goal, three assists) each recording four-point games.
After a few good looks in the first, alternate captain Kelly Gorbatenko put the Badgers on the board with 11:11 remaining after an electric pass from alternate captain Lacey Eden. Eden charged down the ice to prevent an icing, before making a backhanded pass on the move to Gorbatenko.
With 2:30 remaining in the first period, captain Caroline Harvey found the back of the net from an Adéla Šapovalivová pass.
With less than 30 seconds of play remaining, senior Claire Enright made the score 3-0.
Lacey Eden collected her second point of the game halfway through the second period where she scored for the Badgers.
Laney Potter opened the final period of play to add to the Badger’s lead, receiving a cross-ice pass from Emma Venusio and Lacey Eden. Th puck bounced off the board and redirected right to Potter, who made the scoreboard 5-0.
Eden struck again after she deflected a shot from Caroline Harvey with 10:25 remaining in the third.
Freshman Charlotte Pieckenhagen scored the Badger’s seventh goal before sophomore Grace Bickett collected her first career goal just seconds before the game ended.
Wisconsin recorded its eighth shutout of the season, with Ava McNaughton securing 13 saves.
