BRILLION, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Calumet County authorities are reminding drivers to slow down after a deputy recently ticketed a driver for going 107 mph in a 55 mph zone.
The driver was stopped on County Highway PP, north of Brillion and received a six-point citation and mandatory court appearance.
In Wisconsin, speeding more than 25 mph in a 55 mph speed zone can result in a driver’s license suspension.
So far this year in Calumet County there have been 76 speed-related crashes, 24 injuries and one fatality.
The department wrote, “every mph over the limit cuts your reaction time and extends your stopping distance. The few minutes you think you’ll “save” aren’t worth the life-changing consequences. Please slow down, leave earlier, and put your phone down.”
