GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The longest federal government shutdown in history came to an end Wednesday night.
As the TSA and FAA weren’t getting paid to work for those 43 days, many airports across the country were forced to cancel or delay flights.
Officials say employees at Appleton and Green Bay airports still reported to work and did not have any major issues, but Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport director Marty Piette said travelers should still be alert.
“If anybody is traveling this week, it’s going to take a few days for airlines to reposition aircraft and for crew to get back to normal,” said Piette. “So just make sure you download your airline’s app to stay in touch with the airline and see if there have been any changes.”
He added that spirits have been high throughout the shutdown, but their federal employees are happy to get back to normal.
