NEENAH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Some Neenah residents are without a home following a fire at an apartment building Monday morning.
Just after 5:30 a.m., Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue was dispatched to the 400 block of First Street for a structure fire. Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the roof of the apartment complex.
Officials say they were able to control, contain and extinguish the fire within a few hours. Firefighters remained on scene for an additional hour in case of potential rekindles.
According to NMFR, “numerous apartments suffered extensive water damage” and an unspecified number of residents were displaced. The Red Cross is assisting those who were impacted.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. There is no damage estimate at this time. No injuries were reported.
