Green Bay Metro Fire Department
GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Green Bay Metro Fire Department is warning citizens about a new scam.
Officials say scammers are calling residents and pretending to be fire inspectors, then requesting access to buildings and asking for payments for inspections.
“Please remember, the Green Bay Metro Fire Department conducts fire inspections but will never ask for money over the phone or during unexpected visits. Fire department representatives will always be in uniform and will arrive in a marked GBMFD vehicle,” authorities said in a Facebook post Monday.
If someone comes to your business/home requesting payment for a fire inspection, asks for access to your building and/or portrays themselves as a fire department representative, you should notify the Green Bay Police Department at (920) 448-3200.
