(WTAQ-WLUK) — The attorney for convicted murderer Taylor Schabusiness has filed a motion to withdraw from her appeals case.
Schabusiness is serving a life term with no chance at parole, plus another 10.5 years after that, for the Feb. 22, 2022, murder of Shad Thyrion at a Green Bay west side home. The jury rejected her insanity defense.
The appeals portion of the case was assigned to attorney Greg Petit and he later filed what is called a no-merit report in November 2024. That meant he found no grounds for appeal in the case.
On Wednesday, Petit filed to withdraw from the case, according to court documents.
Schabusiness is also facing charges for allegedly attacking a prison staff member at Taycheedah Correctional Institution in July of 2024.
Before pleading not guilty to those charges during a preliminary hearing on that case in April, she attacked her attorney Curtis Julka, before she was subdued by sheriff’s deputies.
Julka left the case, and was replaced by attorney Chris Froelich, the same attorney who represented her at the Brown County murder trial.
