FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Police are asking for the public’s help locating a convicted sex offender who cut off his GPS monitoring system.
Chad Maertz, 55, left his residence at 99 W. Division Street in Fond du Lac early Monday afternoon, the Fond du Lac Police Department said in a news release. Maertz allegedly removed the GPS monitor that allows authorities to track his whereabouts.
FDLPD is coordinating with neighboring agencies to take Maertz into custody. If you see him or his vehicle, you are asked to call 911 immediately.
Maertz is described as a white man, 5’10” and 192 pounds, with a shaved/balding head and brown eyes. He is known to drive a red 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan with a Wisconsin registration plate ARJ4624.
Police say Maertz was convicted in December 2022 of abducting a child in Fond du Lac County.
