GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The author known as “Uncle Fester” pleaded not guilty Thursday to the newest two sets of charges, while discussions about a plea deal to resolve all four cases continue.
Stephen Preisler, 66, gained renown for his books on how to make ricin, methamphetamine and other drugs. Last year, he was charged with multiple drug manufacturing and delivery counts. Since then, additional charges, including drug possession and bail jumping, have been added.
The not guilty pleas entered Thursday were for four counts of bail jumping and one count of possession of THC.
A status conference is scheduled for Oct. 15. If the case is not resolved, a trial date will be set.
Preisler had posted a $50,000 cash bond, but that was revoked after a subsequent arrest. Judge John Zakowski reduced the $15,000 cash bond in the two newest cases to $7,500 each.
The first criminal complaint states the amount of methamphetamines allegedly found in his home could last the average user anywhere from 328 days to over 3,000 days. Preisler has repeatedly disputed that the items seized were illegal substances.
Preisler also faces a civil suit filed by the city of Green Bay, seeking to have his Baird Street home declared a public nuisance in order to be sold or razed. No hearings are currently scheduled in that case.
