KIMBERLY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An opening date has been set for the new Festival Foods grocery store opening in the Fox Valley later this year.
On Wednesday, the company announced when it will welcome customers to two new locations in the fall. One of those stores is in Kimberly, which will open Sept. 20 at 800 E. Maes Avenue.
The 98,030-square-foot building was one of many Shopko locations which shut down when the retail chain went out of business in 2019. It was sold at auction in March 2022 for $1.75 million.
The other store will be in the city of Hudson, located in St. Croix County, and open Nov. 8.
“It’s an honor to join the Hudson community and also to continue serving our Fox Valley guests with a new store in Kimberly,” said Mark Skogen, president and CEO of Festival Foods, in a news release. “We’re looking forward to providing an enjoyable shopping experience, excellent product quality and exceptional value.”
Both locations will offer what officials call “Festival Foods’ traditional favorites” including a scratch bakery, deli, premium meat and seafood options, a hot food bar, wine and spirits, and natural and organic products. There will also be in-store Caribou Coffee kiosks with indoor café seating and food courts offering Asian stir-fry, popcorn, sushi, hot cookies and more.
Catering services, online shopping and store pickup will be available. Additionally, the new locations will “incorporate cutting-edge, energy-saving technology” and have a brat stand for nonprofit fundraising activities.
Festival Foods says it will host hiring events this summer to fill positions at both new stores. More information on these job fairs is expected to be released soon, the company said.
Festival Foods currently has 41 locations throughout Wisconsin.
