MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An area food pantry’s plate is nearly full; it just needs a little extra help from the community.
St. Joseph Food Program in Menasha says as of this month, it has reached 80% of its total campaign goal to renovate its facility.
The renovation project reconfigures the current space at 1465A Opportunity Way to better help meet the needs of the families and individuals it serves.
The project includes creating a room for its additional hydroponic units for the pantry to grow its own lettuce.
“The great thing about this project is that it’s really focused on everyone who comes through the doors of St. Joe’s. So it’s a renovation project to improve the dignity of the clients who come through our doors, providing them a better and safer space to share their stories, come in for their qualifying interviews but also to better utilize all the square footage in our building currently to better prepare our programs for our clients for outreach agencies and partners and other nonprofits that we serve and really just to serve the community in a better capacity,” said St. Joseph Food Program development director, Heather Du Vall.
On Thursday, the facility kicked off the project with a groundbreaking ceremony and presented a new opportunity for donors.
Through Miron Construction, every donation made to the campaign will be matched, up to $500,000, so the campaign can reach its goal.
The newly renovated space is expected to be complete by the end of this year.
