GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Richard Sotka was sentenced Monday to two back-to-back life prison terms with no chance at parole for killing Rhonda Cegelski and Paula O’Connor at an east-side home in Jan. 2023.
A jury convicted Sotka in March for the deaths. Judge Beau Liegeois had the option to set dates when Sotka would first be eligible for parole, but declined that choice. He said Sotka’s actions were “shocking to the conscience.”
According to a criminal complaint, Sotka admitted to the murders. He went to the residence and told police he was ‘humiliated’ at the scene there, so he killed the women.
In court Monday, Sotka said he couldn’t have remorse because he “did what I had to do” to protect himself at the scene.
