(WTAQ-WLUK) — The chairman of the Brown County board is running for state Assembly.
Patrick Buckley announced his candidacy on Thursday. He is running in the 89th district. Under maps signed into law this year, the district covers most of the west side of Green Bay and Ashwaubenon.
“Runaway inflation is forcing families to make difficult decisions,” Buckley said in his campaign announcement. “We need to cut waste out of government, streamline services to stretch taxpayers’ dollars while making smart investments to grow our economy. I have a proven track record here on the local level and I’ll bring that commonsense philosophy to the State Assembly.”
Buckley is a business owner and a former Green Bay police officer. He has been on the county board since 2010. He ran for mayor of Green Bay in 2019, but lost to Eric Genrich.
Democrat Ryan Spaude, an assistant district attorney for Brown County, announced his candidacy for the 89th Assembly District last month.
