OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The construction schedule for a future project in Winnebago County has been advanced by one year.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the WIS 21 project originally scheduled for 2027 has been moved up into 2026.
Officials say the project will provide safety benefits along the WIS 21 corridor between Omro and Oshkosh. Construction would reach from south of the WIS 21 bridge over the Fox River in the city of Omro to just west of the North Washburn Street roundabout in Oshkosh.
Improvements include:
- Roundabouts at the intersections with County FF, Sand Pit Road and Leonard Point Road
- Offset left turn lanes at the WIS 21 intersections with Oakwood Road and Westhaven Drive
- Concrete repair
- Shoulder work
- Upgrading curb ramps for ADA compliance
- Beam guard replacement
