(WTAQ-WLUK) — Wisconsin is launching a modernized approach to work zone safety education.
The Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association revealed “Work Zone Safe Wisconsin,” its web-based driver education platform that teaches the basics of navigating work zone safety through personalized stories, videos and anecdotes.
WisDOT is encouraging all driver education schools in the state to adapt the Work Zone Safe Wisconsin platform to meet a new law requiring at least 30 minutes of such education.
Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible for a $500 scholarship, drawn monthly.
Officials say it’s a good refresher for all drivers to take.
Nine people were killed and more than 700 were injured in work zone crashes in Wisconsin in 2023.
