The University of Wisconsin Green Bay has found it’s successor to longtime Head Women’s Basketball Coach Kevin Borseth by announcing the hiring of Kayla Karius as just the 4th coach in program history. The former Kayla Tetschlag, a Sheboygan North standout and Phoenix star was the Head Coach at the University of South Dakota the past two seasons. She compiled a record of 37-29 in her two seasons after taking over from another coach with Green Bay ties, Dawn Plitzuweit who moved on to West Virginia. Karius was also an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin. She played for the Phoenix from 2007-2011, leading GB to three NCAA tournament appearances and a run to the Sweet 16 in her senior year. Karius finished 9th all-time in Division 1 scoring with 1372 points, ranking 7th all time in rebounds, 8th in games played and among the top five in free throws attempted and made. She will succeed Borseth who retired after 37 years of college coaching, 21 over two stints at Green Bay. Karius will be introduced at a news conference at the Kress Center on Thursday morning.
