GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An argument about a robbery and two subsequent fights led to a shooting on Green Bay’s east side Friday, according to a criminal complaint.
Freddrick Love-Kennedy, 15, is charged with one count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide.
Love-Kennedy appeared virtually in Brown County court Monday.
Bond was set at $100,000 cash.
In Wisconsin, those between ages 10-to-16 facing certain homicide-related counts are charged in adult court first. At a later point, the defense attorney can ask for the case to be moved to juvenile court, but such requests are not automatic and face judicial review.
According to the complaint, a witness told police Love-Kennedy robbed the shooting victim’s cousin on Wednesday. After that, there were two more fights — one of which involved Love-Kennedy and the eventual shooting victim — both of which Love-Kennedy lost, “and that’s why he was upset”, according to the witness.
Love-Kennedy, the victim, and several others met Friday afternoon on Mills Street. Another argument ensued, Love-Kennedy pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots. The victim was hit twice: once in the arm, once in the face.
After his arrest, Love-Kennedy told police “he was attacked yesterday at Preble and he had no intention of getting any revenge,” the complaint states.
Love-Kennedy denied having any contact with the victim or his friends, and he denied firing the shots.
Police said the 16-year-old victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Love-Kennedy will return to court on June 21st at 2 p.m. for a status hearing.
