FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Deputies conducted a traffic stop in Fond du Lac County over the weekend which resulted in the arrest of four men armed with illegally possessed firearms.
It happened Saturday morning when a vehicle traveling more than 100 miles per hour was stopped on I-41 near Lost Arrow Road. Four males from the Milwaukee area were “headed to Fond du Lac” to party, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office. Three illegally owned handguns, including one reported stolen from Georgia, were found.
All four were taken into custody, as none were eligible to carry a concealed weapon and two of the four had been consuming alcohol while under the age of 21.
- 20-year-old driver arrested for operating while intoxicated, operating after suspension, possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed weapon
- 20-year-old passenger arrested for possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed weapon
- 20-year-old passenger arrested for possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed weapon
- 23-year-old passenger arrested for possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed weapon (on probation for carrying a concealed weapon)
Two of the passengers have extensive criminal histories, the Sheriff’s Office noted. “Thankfully our deputies are dedicated to keeping our community safe and risk their own safety to seek out offenders like this,” a statement reads.
The Sheriff’s Office said the firearms seized in the traffic stop will undergo further testing to determine if they are connected to any other criminal investigations.
