I love this country music news story from Trisha Yearwood. In her new book, she jokes about how hubby Garth Brooks “won her heart” by pulling out frozen pizza’s for one of their first dinners together! This is where Garth and I are so alike, because apparently his freezer was stocked with the REALLY good varieties. You know, the 2 for $5 kind of pizza? Yep, nothin’ but the best. I hope at the very least Garth had a Tombstone or two in the ice box.
So this got me to thinking about one of the very first “quick dinners” that my wife Pam made me. Frozen Van De Kamp’s fish.
And what was REALLY astounding to me was her passion for these frozen little chunks of fish (at least I think it’s fish). Don’t get me wrong, my wife is an incredible cook. My mouth waters thinking about some of her Italian pasta dishes.
She will literally go out of her way to find a store that carries Van De Kamp’s fish. There isn’t a freezer isle in Northeast Wisconsin that she isn’t familiar with. I tell you, it’s pure love and dedication for her and her fish sticks. She can talk about Van De Kamp’s forever, raving about them. She accepts no substitute…no other brand will suffice. It’s one of the great quirks that I love about her.
