Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 Tbsp smoked paprika
- 2 tsp ground black pepper
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, pressed
- 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 cup lager beer (make it something you like to drink)
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 3 Tbsp A1 steak sauce
- 2 Tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp hot sauce
- 2 cups beef stock
In a small bowl whisk together the paprika, pepper, chili powder and cumin, and set aside.
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter. Add the onions and saute over medium heat until translucent. Add the garlic, pepper and spices (from the bowl) and cook anther few minutes to let the flavors build. Add the remaining ingredients, bring to a boil, then reduce to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
Then transfer to a blender (or use an immersion blender) to blend to a smooth liquid. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
