The WIAA Boys State Golf Tournament wrapped up at the Meadow Valleys course at Blackwolf Run on Tuesday.
Eau Claire Memorial, led by the medalist, took the Division 1 team championship by firing a tournament best 298 score in the final round on Tuesday to defeat Kettle Moraine by three shots. Sheboygan North tied for 4th, De Pere came in 9th and Ashwaubenon 11th in the team standings.
Will Schiltz of the Old Abes fired a final round 69 to climb up 12 spots to earn the gold medal at +1, 145. Mason Schmidtke of Sheboygan North shot 73-73 to finish one stroke back in second. Appleton North’s Rasmus Madsen shot a tourney best -4, 68 on Tuesday to shoot up 27 spots to claim third. Ryan Darling of Notre Dame finished in a tie for fourth at +4, 148. Jackson Jazgar of Ashwaubenon and Aiden Cudney of Kimberly finished in a tie for 10th at +7. Sam Mehlberg was DePere’s top finisher at +13, tied for 29th.
In Division 2, Madison Edgewood made it a state record 5 consecutive team championships by beating Xavier by 10 shots. Winston Knobloch of Winneconne was D2 medalist at +3, 147. Grant Delsart of Wrightstown, an individual qualifier finished +21, tied for 25th.
The Kohler Blue Bombers repeated as Division 3 team champs, in their hometown to boot. Kohler started the day 4 shots back but wound up beating Cambridge by 5 shots. Trey Oswald of Parkview was medalist at +6, 150, two shots clear of Kohler’s Reece Breitenbach and Noah Kirsch of Lancaster.
