OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Oshkosh man was arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography.
Detectives with the Oshkosh Police Department and investigators with the Vice and Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant Wednesday at a home in the 1100 block of Moreland Street. It stemmed from a cyber tip police had received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about media depicting child pornography.
During the search, authorities discovered three child pornography videos on the 53-year-old man’s laptop. He was arrested and transported to the Winnebago County Jail.
“The defendant acknowledged during an interview that there would probably be more than one thousand images and videos of child pornography on the laptop,” a news release states.
Detectives will be seeking the assistance of the WI Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation – Digital Evidence Unit to further the investigation by examining the laptop for further content of [child sexual abuse material].
Three counts of possession of child pornography were recommended.
