(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) – The Marquette University men’s basketball team (5-5, 0-0 BIG EAST) wraps up the non-conference portion of its 2025-26 campaign when the team travels to No. 6/6 Purdue (9-1, 2-0 Big Ten) for a 1 p.m. CT matchup on Saturday, Dec. 13 in Mackey Arena. Peacock features the broadcast, with John Fanta (play-by-play) and Jess Settles (analyst) calling the action. Following Saturday’s outing, the Golden Eagles open BIG EAST competition at Fiserv Forum on Wednesday, Dec. 17 against Georgetown.
Marquette Meets Familiar Non-League Foe
Saturday’s outing concludes a home-and-home series against Purdue, a team the Golden Eagles have met on five occasions in the last eight seasons, including each of the last four campaigns.
Purdue has claimed 11 of the 13 meetings all-time between the two programs in a series that dates back to 1931-32. In the most recent outing, however, guard Kam Jones collected the program’s third triple-double (17 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists) in a 76-58 Marquette victory on Nov. 19, 2024 at Fiserv Forum.
The Boilermakers claimed a 75-73 overtime victory on March 15, 1969 in the NCAA Mideast Regional final, courtesy of a buzzer-beating jumper by Rick Mount. Marquette had defeated Murray State and No. 7 Kentucky in the tourney, but Al McGuire’s squad came up just short in its bid for a first-ever Final Four trip. Marquette was led by legendary George Thompson, who scored 28 points in his final collegiate game.
