PEMBINE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office investigated alleged threats a student made against the Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine School District.
In a joint statement from law enforcement and district administration, Sheriff Randy Miller said officials are “aware of rumors and allegations circulating on social media regarding the safety and security of the Pembine School.”
According to Miller, last week, deputies responded to the school for a report of a student “who had made comments of self-harm and/or harm to others.”
Deputies investigated the allegations and took proper steps to ensure the safety of the students and the school.
Per district protocol, active measures have been taken and will continue to be in place to prevent future concerns.
Miller said every threat to school safety is taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. He added that families should rely on official communication from law enforcement and/or the school district, rather than what they see on social media.
