APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Little Chute resident was taken into custody after running over an Appleton officer early Saturday morning.
Officers were called to a parking lot near S. Walnut St and W. Lawrence street for reports of a verbal disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the vehicle. The driver accelerated towards a group of individuals, then accelerated towards two police officers.
Officials say one officer was unable to move out of the way and got knocked to the ground. The driver then proceeded to drive over his legs with the front and rear driver side tires.
The injured officer was transported to the hospital and has been released
