GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A kitchen fire at an apartment on Green Bay’s west side left three people without a home.
Around 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, Green Bay Metro firefighters were dispatched to a two-story apartment complex in the 500 block of South Fisk Street for the report of a small cooking fire.
When crews arrived on scene, smoke was visible and the complex was subsequently evacuated.
Firefighters entered the building, finding smoke in the main hallway and in the apartment where the fire originated. Officials say the fire had spread from the kitchen area into the ceiling and concealed spaces.
The fire was declared under control about 15 minutes after the 911 call.
Three tenants were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. No injuries were reported.
Damage to the structure and contents is estimated at $20,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
