(WTAQ-WLUK) — One Northeast Wisconsin school district is among 20 to receive state grants for their fabrication laboratories.
The Weyauwega-Fremont School District is receiving $20,000, Gov. Tony Evers’ office announced.
The 20 grants, totaling $497,199, are in honor of Fab Lab Day, which Evers declared statewide.
“During the Year of the Kid, it’s more important than ever to invest in the future of Wisconsin’s kids and give them every opportunity to develop valuable skills that they can use to become the leaders and innovators tomorrow,” Evers said in a news release.
“Thanks to our partners at (the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation), school districts across the state will be able to equip their students with state-of-the-art laboratories for learning, ensuring our kids have the education and resources necessary to become the workforce of tomorrow.”
Fab labs are school workshops equipped with computer-controlled manufacturing components such as 3D printers, laser engravers, computer numerical control routers and plasma cutters.
