NEW LONDON DUBLIN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — One Northeast Wisconsin city has a unique way of ringing in St. Patrick’s Day.
Through Saturday, New London will instead be “New Dublin.” Signs marking the city’s borders were altered to show the updated name, as is tradition.
It’s the start of all the fun going on this week including Hooligan’s Day and Irish caroling.
Leaders with the Shamrock Club of New Dublin say residents are getting in the spirit.
“Just like today we’re going and we’re going to change all these signs and we’re getting people honking at us and they’re getting ready for this big week,” said Connor Loughrin of the Shamrock Club of New Dublin. “And personally up here I like to see everybody celebrating, having a good time and enjoying themselves.”
The festivities all lead up to the grand finale with the St. Patrick’s Day parade and Irish Fest on Saturday.
