(WIAC) MADISON, Wis.–The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced its women’s basketball awards for the 2025 season, based on voting by the conference coaches.
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Kacie Carollo received Kwik Trip Player of the Year recognition, while UW-Oshkosh’s Paige Seckar was tabbed the Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year. UW-Oshkosh’s Brad Fischer collected Kwik Trip Coach of the Year accolades.
Carollo is the second Warhawk to collect the Player of the Year award, joining Aleah Grundahl (2022, 2023, 2024). She has earned first team honors three consecutive years, after receiving honorable mention in 2022. Carollo also garnered all-defensive team recognition for the third straight season. She leads the conference with 21.2 points per game, 9.2 rebounds per contest, 73 three-point field goals made, 116 assists, 62 steals, and an .841 free throw percentage. Carollo has registered 10 double-doubles and is tied for the program career record with 28. She owns the program career rebounding mark (866) and the WIAC record for career three-pointers made (235). Carollo is second in UW-Whitewater archives with 1,786 career points.
Repeat selections on the first team from a year ago include: UW-La Crosse’s Lauryn Milne, UW-Oshkosh’s Kayce Vaile, and UW-Stout’s Amanda Giesen. Vaile and Giesen added first team accolades in 2023, along with UW-Stout’s Anna Mutch.
Seckar is the second player in program history to receive the newcomer distinction, joining Kennedy Osterman (2021). Seckar is third on the team with 25 blocked shots, and fourth with 105 rebounds, while averaging 5.9 points per contest. She scored a career-high 19 points against UW-La Crosse on Jan. 18. A newcomer is defined as a student-athlete who used her first season of participation in women’s basketball this season. Transfers are not eligible unless they didn’t participate in women’s basketball at their previous institution.
Fischer received the coaching award for the second straight season and fifth time in his career (2013, 2017, 2019, 2024). He has directed the Titans to the WIAC regular-season championship and a 23-4 record. It is the 12th time in 13 years that UW-Oshkosh has compiled at least 20 victories. The Titans have secured a spot in the NCAA tournament for the 20th time in program history.
UW-Oshkosh’s Sarah Hardwick was a repeat selection on the five-member all-defensive team from last season. She also received defensive honors in 2023.
An All-Sportsmanship Team was announced for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each team as selected by that team.
