FOX CROSSING, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Oshkosh company has bought the site that was once home to Kimberly-Clark’s headquarters.
Evergreen Retirement Community, Inc. announced the purchase of 401 N. Lake St. on Tuesday. The 43-acre property was K-C’s headquarters from 1956 until 1985, when the company moved to Texas. The 178,004-square-foot building on the site was office space until it closed in 2020.
“Evergreen has been exploring opportunities to expand into the Fox Valley for quite some time,” Evergreen president/CEO Ken Arneson said in a statement. “With the support of the Evergreen Board of Directors, this acquisition is our opportunity to grow and serve a new community.”
Evergreen’s preliminary plans include independent and assisted living accommodations in the existing buildings. More independent living housing, a fitness and aquatic center and worship and performance space would be added.
Evergreen says it is gathering community feedback and will work with the village of Fox Crossing on development plans. AG Architecture of Wauwatosa is also involved in the planning process.
