(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) The Marquette University men’s basketball team (16-3, 7-1 BIG EAST) continued BIG EAST Conference play with a 76-59 victory at Seton Hall (6-13, 1-7 BIG EAST) on Tuesday night in the Prudential Center.
Kam Jones finished with 19 points and Stevie Mitchell chipped in six rebounds, four steals and four assists. The victory moved Marquette (7-1) into a tie for first play with St. John’s and MU is now 4-0 on the road in league play.
The Golden Eagles led by as many as 27 points, forced 24 turnovers and turned those miscues into 23 points.
Marquette led 33-21 at the intermission in large part because of the team’s effort at the defensive end. MU held the Pirates to 6-of-30 from the floor and forced 14 turnovers, which led to 16 points. Offensively, Marquette missed its final 10 shots of the first half, but still held a double-digit lead at the break.
