ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Charges are pending against an “incoherent and delusional” man who allegedly barricaded himself inside the crawl space of an Ashwaubenon home before being arrested.
The incident happened at 4 p.m. Monday at a home in the 1300 block of Orlando Drive.
Ashwaubenon Public Safety says it began when they were dispatched to the residence for a report of an individual screaming. Prior calls to this address showed a history and violence towards police.
When officers arrived, the homeowner met authorities at the front door and told police her son may be under the influence of drugs.
According to police, “The son was in the basement, out of control, and damaging property. Officers made verbal contact with the son in the basement. The son was incoherent and delusional.”
Officials say the son barricaded himself the home’s crawl space. Authorities deployed pepper balls and a K9 to apprehend the individual, but both tactics were ineffective. So were continued negotiations continued with the man.
Eventually, police made entry to the crawl space and took the man into custody following a brief struggle. The individual suffered minor self-inflicted injuries and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital to receive medical attention.
He was then taken to the Brown County Jail. A news release says charges are pending.
No officers were injured during the incident.
