(ST.NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) MEQUON – A resurgent St. Norbert College got back to winning ways, shutting down Concordia University Wisconsin 3-0 in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Ozaukee Ice Center.
The Green Knights (13-4, 8-2 NCHA) scored three goals in the third period, with Blake Ulve netting two redirect shots from Dayton Deics in powerplay situations.
After two scoreless periods where the Green Knights outshot the Falcons 37-13, Ulve finally broke the stalemate with a powerplay goal at 10:39 off assists from Deics and Braden Lindstrom. The Deics and Ulve connection would continue as they both combined for a second powerplay goal at 16:25. Carter Hottman would put the game to bed with a shorthanded goal and an empty net at 18:02.
Making his first collegiate start, freshman goaltender Vaughn Makar kept a clean sheet with 22 saves, including 18 stops in the final two periods.
Hottman led St. Norbert in shots with nine, while Ulve had five. The Green Knights outshot Concordia Wisconsin 48-22. Ulve and Deics finished with multi-point games, with Ulve scoring his second and third goals of the season.
Gabe Rosek was forced to make 45 stops for the Falcons.
St. Norbert went 2-for-4 on the powerplay, while Concordia Wisconsin went 0-for-5.
