(UW ATHLETICS) MADiSON – Wisconsin football head coach Luke Fickell announced the hiring of three assistant coaches on Thursday afternoon. Tuf Borland (Assistant LBs Coach), Joe Ludwig (Assistant TEs Coach) and Blake Rolan (Assistant WRs Coach) will all join the coaching staff as the program begins preparations for the 2025 season.
Borland, who’s been in the program since 2023 as a graduate assistant, will serve as Wisconsin’s Assistant Linebackers Coach. Borland played as a linebacker at Ohio State from 2016-20, becoming a three-time captain. He ranked second for the Buckeyes with 55 tackles in 2020, helping Ohio State reach the CFP National Championship after earning Defensive MVP honors in the Buckeye’s Sugar Bowl win over Clemson.
Ludwig joins the Badgers as the Assistant Tight Ends Coach after spending time at Baylor as a quality control coach. Before beginning his coaching career, Ludwig played collegiately at Iowa and Utah. Ludwig played in eight games during his time at Iowa from 2017-19 before playing in 14 games at fullback and tight end across two seasons at Utah (2020-21). Ludwig attended Middleton High School and is the son of Andy Ludwig, who was the Badgers’ Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach from 2013-14.
Rolan will serve as the Badgers’ Assistant Wide Receivers Coach after spending five seasons as the offensive coordinator at Southern Illinois. Rolan has more than 15 years of experience across college football and has made stops at Utah Tech (Offensive Coordinator, 2018), Kentucky (offensive analyst, 2017) and Cincinnati (Wide Receivers Coach, 2013-16) during coaching career. He played quarterback and tight end at Middle Tennessee State from 2000-03 and graduated with a degree in Education from Louisville in 2005. His first coaching job was as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Kentucky Country Day High School. Rolan’s first college coaching experience was as a graduate assistant at Auburn.
