(WNFL/LEARFIELD) – The Badgers season came to an end, falling to the Minnesota Gophers 24-7 on Friday at Camp Randall Stadium.
Wisconsin (5-7) lost possession of Paul Bunyan’s Axe and lost out on a chance to become bowl eligible.
Coach Luke Fickell did say the Badgers, if offered the chance to play in a bowl game as a sub-.500 team, would take the opportunity, giving his team much needed work and another game to play.
Badgers quarterback Braedyn Locke said that he wants to continue to compete for the Badgers quarterback job moving forward.
Locke also said that he trusts and believes in the vision of Luke Fickell.
Locke talked about dealing with the emotions after the season is over.
Locke also talked about what went wrong in the 2nd half of the season that led to a 5-game losing streak.
Locke said that this is a low for the program.
The Badgers’ Jack Nelson threw his support behind Fickell.
Nelson said that the majority of the guys support Fickell.
Fickell said that fans have to believe.
Fickell said that he’s been coaching and playing for awhile, never been in a situation like this before.

As for the state of the program, Fickell had this to say.
Fickell will have his hands full. He needs to determine which coaches will return, find a new offensive co-ordinator, hang on to the high school players who’ve committed to the program and go shopping in the transfer portal.
