(WNFL) – The Lomira Lions picked up the 2024 WIAA Division 6 football championship with a 26-19 win over Grantsburg at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
Trailing 6-0 midway through the first quarter, Lomira scored 3 straight touchdowns to take a 20-7 lead with 8:37 left in the third quarter.
Grantsburg would add a third-quarter field goal to make it 20-10 before Lomira added a touchdown on a Taylor Schaumburg 6-yard run for a 26-10 lead with 9:16 left in the game.
Schaumburg was unstoppable, rushing for 216 yards on 29 carries.
For Grantsburg, Brock Matheny completed 24-of-37 pass attempts for 283 yards.
It was the first state championship appearance for both teams.
