(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) GREEN BAY – Anthony Roy dominated at the Resch Center on Tuesday night, totaling 34 points to help lead the Green Bay men’s basketball team past the SIU-Edwardsville Cougars 82-57. Roy also contributed in other ways, finishing with a team-high six rebounds, five steals, and four assists.
Marcus Hall and Foster Wonders were the other two Phoenix to finish in double figures, with 14 for Hall and 10 for Wonders.
Green Bay played well on both sides of the ball, knocking down 47.1-percent from the floor and 37.0-percent from three while holding SIUE to 33.9-percent shooting from the floor and 22.6-percent shooting from deep.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half was a grind, with the two teams trading baskets for the first ten minutes and playing to a 20-20 tie with 9:22 to go. The final ten minutes of the half saw the Phoenix outplay the Cougars, building a nine-point lead after a Roy three with :57 left to go in the half. SIUE’s Ray’Sean Taylor hit a three as time expired to bring the Cougars to within six at 35-29.
The Phoenix was dominant from the start of the second half 47-28. 21 of Roy’s 34 points came in the second half.
