The Marquette University men’s basketball team (4-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) returns to Fiserv Forum Tuesday Night to host nationally ranked Purdue (4-0, 0-0 Big Ten) at 8 p.m. CT. Following Tuesday’s outing, the Golden Eagles will head to Nassau, Bahamas to take on Georgia on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. CT.
Marquette Looking To Reverse Series Trend
Tuesday’s outing is the first game in a home-and-home series that will see Marquette return to West Lafayette in 2025-26, but the squads have met on four occasions in the last five seasons.
Purdue has claimed 11 of the 12 meetings all-time between the two programs in a series that dates back to 1931-32. The most recent matchup came in last year’s championship game of the Maui Invitational and resulted in a 78-75 win by Purdue.
The Boilermakers claimed a 75-73 overtime victory on March 15, 1969 in the NCAA Mideast Regional final courtesy of a buzzer-beating jumper by Rick Mount. Marquette had defeated Murray State and No. 7 Kentucky in the tourney, but Al McGuire’s squad came up just short in its bid for a first-ever Final Four trip. Marquette was led by legendary George Thompson, who scored 28 points in his final collegiate game.
