OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Former Assembly Minority Leader Gordon Hintz and incumbent Jon Doemel announced they will run for Winnebago County Executive in 2025.
Hintz served in the Wisconsin State Assembly between 2007 and 2023 in the 54th Assembly District, including as Assembly Minority Leader between 2017 and 2021.
Doemel currently holds the role of Winnebago County Executive. He has served in the role since 2021.
In a release Monday, Hintz wrote:
I believe my experience in federal, state and local government has uniquely prepared me to be an effective administrator at the County level. My administration will prioritize quality of life initiatives, carry on the important work of providing vital human services and caring for an aging population, build upon our innovative practices in our justice system while increasing public safety, promote economic development, support expanded opportunities for housing supply and work to balance fiscal responsibility with investing in our community’s critical needs.
Doemel announced his run for re-election on Facebook.
Hintz currently serves as the Director for the Wisconsin Laborers-Employers Cooperation Education Trust.
Hintz is the second challenger to announce he will be running for Winnebago County Executive. Sheriff John Matz announced he would challenge Doemel on November 11.
Before serving in the Wisconsin State Assembly, Hintz served as a Management Assistant and Municipal Budget Analyst for the City of Long Beach, CA. He would later serve to U.S. Senator Herb Kohl.
Hintz is a graduate of Hamline University and hold a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison.
