(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women’s volleyball team hit .325 in a 25-18, 25-14, 25-19 sweep of Seton Hall on Sunday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center.
“I thought we came out and played well,” MU head coach Ryan Theis said. “I liked (assistant coach Ryan Walthall‘s) serve plan and it got them out of system right off the bat. Hattie Bray was at one point 7-for-8 or 8-for-8, so she was a constant force that they had to try and deal with. I thought that helped open up other people.”
Middle blocker Hattie Bray led the Golden Eagles (20-7, 14-2 BIG EAST) to their 20th win of the season with 14 kills, three blocks and a pair of service aces, while hitting .684 (14-1-19). Outside hitter Aubrey Hamilton added 12 kills on .440 hitting, while setter Yadhira Anchante posted 46 assists and 12 digs for her 19th double double of the year.
Anchante’s assist total is the highest of her career in a three-set match and ties her ninth-highest total in all of her 87-match career. She was honored prior to the contest for becoming the fourth player in MU history to reach 3,000 career assists on Nov. 3 against St. John’s.
Seton Hall (11-16, 5-11 BIG EAST) hit just .113 in the match and .000 (6-6-30) in the second set loss. SHU posted just four kills in the final set and was led on the day by seven kills apiece by Perri Lucas and Madison Loiselle.
